Villarreal B and CE Europa share the spoils in a memorable match
A game you remember for a lifetime. Villarreal B and Europa shared the points in what was a true footballing spectacle (3-3). The Yellows produced an outstanding first half and raced into a 0-2 lead, but the hosts struck back before the break with a goal straight from the corner. After the restart, Europa levelled again before Nizar came off the bench to restore Villarreal’s advantage. Another goal straight from teh corner made it 3-3 shortly after Nizar hit the post, before Rubén Gómez emerged as the hero by saving a penalty in the 96th minute. Absolute madness.
Albelda’s side came out flying and opened the scoring after just 90 seconds. Albert García struck early, beating Flere one-on-one after a clever run that caught Europa’s defence off guard.
Villarreal B dominated the early stages. In the 17th minute, Albert García was through again, but this time the home keeper came out on top.
Well organised without the ball and sharp in possession, Villarreal continued to threaten. Bonafé missed a chance for a second goal, while later Hugo was too unselfish when trying to square for José Gaitán, only for Campeny to intervene.
The visitors sensed the second goal was coming, and it soon arrived. José Gaitán made it 0-2 at Can Dragó, capitalising on a defensive error, beating Flere and slotting home.
Despite Villarreal’s superiority, Europa pulled one back before half-time. Escoruela scored directly from a corner in stoppage time, a huge momentum shifter.
After the break, the equaliser arrived quickly as Vacas finished a cross to make it 2-2.
Villarreal responded positively. Arnau Forés and Nizar were introduced, and Nizar struck with his first touch to make it 2-3 following a superb counter-attack.
Europa pushed hard. Isma Sierra cleared one off the line, while Rubén Gómez made a brilliant save to deny Jordi Cano.
Late on, Nizar hit the post when he looked set to make it 2-4. Moments later, Adnane stunned everyone with a second goal straight from a corner to equalise at 3-3.
In stoppage time, Europa were awarded a penalty, but once again Rubén Gómez delivered, saving Jordi Cano’s spot-kick.
Just like in the reverse fixture, it ended in an unforgettable 3-3 draw.
