The club has celebrated the fact that it will play one more season in the top flight
Villarreal CF made the traditional toast to survival in the VIP box at the Estadio de la Cerámica this afternoon after securing 42 points against Real Sociedad, which virtually guarantees the Submarine will be in the First Division for another season. This will be Villarreal’s 24th season in the top flight of Spanish football.
The event was led by the president of Villarreal CF, Fernando Roig, and was also attended by the CEO Fernando Roig Negueroles, the first team player Pau Torres, as well as Javier Pérez, president of the Villarreal Supporters’ Group (Agrupació de Penyes del Villarreal – APV) and various members of the supporters’ club.

José Manuel Llaneza’s relatives who were present at the ceremony – and who also said a few words of gratitude and recognition – received a plaque with a photo of the yellow vice-president next to the Europa League trophy in his honour.
This year Villarreal CF not only toasted to celebrate another year in the Spanish football elite, but also to remember once again José Manuel Llaneza, an essential figure in the history of the Yellows.
