Colombian striker Carlos Bacca has scored in two consecutive LaLiga games

Villarreal CF’s Colombian forward Carlos Bacca underlined his satisfaction at his current form. He has two goals in his last two LaLiga matches (against Eibar and Cádiz). “I have always had faith in God and in my work. Not playing and not having the minutes to be able to help was not easy. I didn’t make the most of some chances, but I spoke with Unai and he told me that he trusted in me. I never let myself down, I had the support of my team-mates and my family, so I am happy with the good moment I’m in,” he said.

Bacca underlined that is easy to have an understanding with strikers like Gerard Moreno, and that he hopes to continue this good form after the international break: “Having an understanding with Gerard is very easy, because of the run he is on and the quality he is. As a striker, you want to score, I always was working hard, with the idea that the chance would come, and the goals too. Before, I was going away frustrated because I wasn’t helping, but now I am enjoying being able to contribute to the team and help my team-mates. I always have faith, that has helped me and continues to help me, it keeps me healthy. Now is my time, and given the situation we are in, being able to get up every day is a reason to thank Him. I have always said that it is God’s glory that sustains me and helps me to do the things I do.”

The Yellows No.9 is optimistic ahead of the future: “The team has regained its confidence, we can give more and continue like this. It’s a key moment where we’re going into the final straight of the Europa League and LaLiga.”

To conclude, Bacca explained what the manager wants from him on the pitch: “He asks us to be mobile, there was a moment when it was going very well for us, but then teams had studied us to work out how to stop us. Because of that, the manager asks us to be mobile and free to look for attacking alternatives. We also have the responsibility to defend first and help the team be closer to the opposition area.”
