The Yellows head coach has underlined that it will be a demanding game for both sides at the Estadio José Zorrilla (Thursday, 7pm CEST)
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared this Wednesday in front of the media to analyse the important LaLiga game against Real Valladolid at the Estadio José Zorrilla (Thursday, 7pm CEST).
Both teams need the points
“We are going with the need to go for the three points against Real Valladolid. There are only three games left. The league is very interesting and there are many games with a lot up for grabs. It will be a match where both sides have a lot to play for. They want to win to move closer to safety, while we are looking for the three points to try and confirm our European aims.”
Valladolid could play a key role in affecting European aims
“Every game is important, each point is up for grabs. We are going into Matchday 36 with the same idea. The result will not be decisive, but it could define our journey. The three games that are left are going to be very important. The three points up for grabs in Valladolid will affect our chances of being in Europe.”
Fighting for Europa League spots
“The main aim was to qualify for the UEFA Europa League. We have the chance to do that, and we also could qualify ourselves for the UEFA Champions League if we win the Europa League final. At the moment, we are currently in the position to qualify for the UEFA Conference League and we are looking to be more consistent to continue aiming for our original objective.”
A dangerous and confident side
“We’ve analysed the opponent and we have found that they have various alternatives. They have varied their playing systems. They have got good results against big teams. They’re in a sweet moment, full of confidence, they’re a solid opponent. The situation in the table means they’ve not got a lot to play for. Their confidence will depend on what they can do during the 90 minutes of the game.”
Being as good as possible
“We respect the opponent a lot. From there, we want to be capable of being at our best, taking the game where we want to in order to come away with a favourable result.”
Dependability to get a good result
“We are being inconsistent in LaLiga and we’ve been excellent in the UEFA Europa League. We haven’t maintained the consistency we show there in the league. There are three games left and each tie is a chance to show that dependability based on controlling the game, deactivating their strengthen and finding our cutting edge in order to be able to win the game.”
The best lineup for each game
“We have played a lot of games this season. My idea is that the best players for each match play. You need to take into account fatigue, the opponents’ quality and the moment each player is in.”
