A total of 22 out of Villarreal’s 29 teams who had a game got a win at the weekend
More than three months later… football! A total of 24 Villarreal youth teams returned to action this weekend. All of those who had not been in action due to the COVID-19 pandemic. One further step towards normality.
Before COVID-19, the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) was a hive of football, and this weekend, thanks to a Saturday full of matches, it was once more.
The teams who take part in competitions organised by the Valencian Football Federation (FFCV) did not have official games since the weekend of 19th and 20th December. Too long.
In total, 29 football teams were in action this past weekend, with 22 of them getting wins. Impressive.
From the first games on Saturday morning, you could tell that it was a special day. Hunger for the ball to start rolling, and above all, a lot of smiles on the talented Yellows Academy players. Training together is great, but playing is something else!
A total of 17 matches took place at the training ground across the weekend. Seeing the pitches being used once more was great. What we used to take for granted is now something marvellous.
The day was great for Yellows. One of the standout wins came from the U16s (Cadete A), who beat Levante 3-2 on Pitch 5.
‘Pre-Benjamín F’, one of the U6 sides, also had a great win away from home, beating Peñíscola 0-3 in an impressive performance by the whole team.
As LaLiga said when football returned at the end of last season, ‘Back to Win’. Being back is the same as winning. Youth football is back!
