Fans enjoyed the fun both before and during the match against Real Sociedad
The city of Vila-real celebrated in style. The city was once again the main feature of promotion at El Madrigal stadium as part of the Endavant Província initiative, which has been promoting tourism in towns and cities from the Castellón province since the 2014/15 season.
The day started with an official lunch for the Villarreal CF and Real Sociedad board of Directors and was also attended by the Mayor of Vila-real, José Benlloch, at the ‘Entrelíneas’ restaurant at El Madrigal stadium. The menu was prepared by the Vila-real Gastronomic Association.
Two hours before kick-off the celebrations were underway in the new, remodelled area surrounding the El Madrigal stadium. The fans came out in numbers to enjoy the ‘Fan Zone’ and performance from DJ Franky Dazz in the moments before the match, with bouncy castles, a human football table, traditional games, face painting and entertainment for all ages. Furthermore, tents were set up for fans so they could enjoy tourist information about the city and taste typical products from Vila-real. There were also 920 supporters who were invited by the club to watch the match live from the stands of the El Madrigal stadium.
Once inside the stadium, all those present enjoyed the procession of the ‘Unión Musical La Lira’ marching band, who did a lap of the pitch directed by Juanjo Peláez. During the break, there was also a promotional video of the city broadcasted on the score board screen.
In addition, it should be mentioned that 25 members and relatives from the from the Castellón Down Syndrome centre, an association linked to last season’s ‘Endavant Igualtat’ (equality) initiative with the Villarreal U19s A team, and 60 children from the ASPANION centre with their families all attended the match.
