Rubén Peña reached his 100th game in the top flight of Spanish football against Mallorca
Villarreal defender Rubén Peña played his 100th match in the top flight of Spanish football against Mallorca. To reach this centenary, the right-back played 87 games with SD Eibar, nine with Villarreal CF and four with Real Valladolid.
In a press conference this lunchtime, Rubén Peña warned that the next game for Villarreal, against Celta, will not be easy: “They’re an opponent that come into the game after having recently changed their manager. They are getting used to the idea of a new manager and I’m sure they are really keen on getting out of this situation because they have players to do that. They’ve got a squad with a lot of quality. We’re expecting a tough tie, where hopefully you see Villarreal at our best.”
The Yellows No.20 underlined the need to be a solid team and keep a clean sheet to get a clean sheet against the Galician team. “We know that they’re an opponent that play football very well and that they have the ability to create a lot of danger. To win, we need to concede few chances, and be alert to them growing in attack. If we are able to defend well, we will have chances to win the match, because this is a quality team.”
