Making history. The Villarreal U19 A team won their third consecutive league title after taking down Levante in Buñol (2-3) in what was a thrilling game. The Yellows were able to celebrate winning the league with two matches still to go in Group VII of the ‘División de Honor’, taking advantage of a draw between Roda U19 and Valencia CF (1-1).
Javi Calleja’s team took the lead thanks to a great finish by Mou from an inch perfect cross put in from the left wing. Levante were far from down and out though and actually managed to turn the scoreline around with two goals by Christian. Just when it seemed the game was getting away from Villarreal, Iván Martín stepped up and scored for the Yellows, giving them the momentum they needed for the rest of the match. This intensity and dominance from the visitors soon led to the third and decisive goal, scored by Fran Álvarez.
At the sound of the final whistle the Yellows squad and staff jumped for joy. The celebrations swarmed the pitch and continued into the changing room. And deservedly so. The Villarreal U19 A team made history by winning their third consecutive league title and making it seven in their trophy cabinet. Now, their next challenge will be to go as far as they can in the ‘Copa de Campeones’ and the ‘Copa del Rey’.
